So... What IS the

Difference Between

Dog Boarding and Pet Sitting?

PET SITTING is a contracted service provider who takes care of a pet at its own home. During the needed, the sitter visits the client's home several times, as required. The exact length of visit is determined by both the owners and sitter, averaging from 15 minutes to an hour depending on the services needed.

Benefits:
A variety of pets can be cared for - not just dogs; less stress on pets since they are in their own home - a familiar environment and regular daily routine; no exposure to other illnesses is pet is fragile; no restrictions on vaccinations - Except for rabies which is required by law; no guilt for owner due to asking neighbors, friends or family to watch their pet; better for pets with health problems and mobility issues due to arthritis, dysplasia, incontinence, etc.; pofessional pet sitters are often licensed, and insured for liability including care, custody, and control of the pets in their care; services for the house as well such as watering of plants and bringing in the mail.

~!

DOG BOARDING can be in large kennels where dogs stay in cages most of the time or in a smaller home enviroment like mine.

Benefits:
24x7 supervision, less stress, increased levels of exercise and play, lots of affection and companionship, relief and alleviation of boredom, bad behaviours averted and good manners rewarded, and this provides peace of mind for the dog and the owner happy without the guilty feeling about leaving the pet home alone.

AND NOW FOR SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!

Pet popularity

  • There are approximately 78.2 million pet dogs in the United States,
  • approximately 86.4 million pet cats in the United States,
  • and 5.3 million house rabbits.

The two most popular pets in most Western countries have been cats and dogs. In the United States, a 2007–2008 survey showed that dog-owning households outnumbered those owning cats, but that the total number of pet cats was higher than that of dogs. The same was true for 2009–2010. In 2013, pets outnumbered children four to one in the United States.

In Canada the latest survey done by Colin Siren of Ipsos Reid estimates that there are 7.9 million cats and 5.9 million dogs in Canada. The survey also shows that 35% of Canadian households have a dog, while 38% have a cat, which is consistent with other surveys conducted around the world.

And don't forget the NON-LIVING pets some of have from time to time....

  • Digital pets such as Gigapets, Neopets, Tamagotchi, or Nintendogs
  • Pet Rocks
  • Robotic Humanoid robots – robots designed to resemble and interact with humans such as QRIO, ASIMO, and SPYKEE VOX
  • Robotic pets – artificially intelligent robots treated as pets such as AIBO, Genibo, Robopet, and iDog
  • Robotic stuffed animals – robots covered in fur such as Furby and Zhu Zhu Pets
  • Robotic dinosaurs – robots designed to resemble dinosaurs such as Pleo and D-Rex
  • Domestic robots – some people treat domestic robots such as Roomba as pets
